Since we last spoke with América Televisión’s Chief Digital Officer Jose Hernandez in 2022, his role has evolved significantly. His team have continued to push the boundaries of digital innovation and integration across the organisation via some key milestones.
“We’ve made substantial progress in expanding our CTV (Connected TV) reach, now covering over 95% of available smart TV brands in Peru,” he reveals. “This expansion has been critical in ensuring our content is accessible to a broader audience, reinforcing our position as the leading broadcaster in the country.”
América’s partnerships with streaming platforms such as Roku and Amazon Fire have further solidified its presence in the digital space. This allows it to tap into new audiences and deliver content seamlessly across different platforms.
Among América’s most significant developments, has been the successful launch of its first FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV) channel. “Launching our FAST channel represents a pivotal step in diversifying our content delivery and monetisation strategies, aligning us with global trends while catering to the changing viewing habits of our audience,” notes Hernandez.
FAST – Digital Channel Strategy
The launch of Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV (FAST) channels presents a valuable opportunity for TV broadcasters like América Televisión to maximise the use of their extensive content libraries. “By repurposing existing content, we can offer viewers a broader array of options without the need for significant new production investments,” explains Hernandez. “This strategy not only enhances our content offering but also opens up new revenue streams through ad-supported models, allowing us to monetise our library in innovative ways.”
Partnering with Mediastream
A strategic partnership with Mediastream has been instrumental in enabling América Televisión to achieve its goals for both its users and advertisers. As a leading mediatech company, Mediastream provides a comprehensive suite of backend solutions that are critical to América’s video operations, including content delivery network (CDN) services and an advanced video player integrated across all digital products.
Advancing Digital Advertising
Hernandez is focused on driving initiatives that encourage transparency, efficiency, and accountability in digital advertising. “By supporting technological advancements and promoting a data-driven approach, I aim to help build a more resilient and innovative digital advertising industry. Moreover, my goal is to ensure that as we grow, we bring the entire community with us, creating opportunities for everyone involved.”
